ABOUT THE TEACHER

Hi there, I'm Catherine (Cat) and I teach yoga here at Meta Mind Muse. In terms of my experience, I've been teaching yogic practices since 2017 after having flown to Nepal to complete an intensive course, taught by a super knowledgeable and approachable Nepalese teacher who helped show me the ropes on a traditional level.

Then, after completing my first Yoga Alliance teacher training, I went on to teach yoga, breathwork, and meditation in my home community - offering private and group classes on a paid and donation-led basis.

Later, I added to my studies here in the UK - popping over to a studio each weekend to learn even more valuable skills from a local teacher with tons of experience and a refreshingly grounded and down to earth approach.

After completing my second yoga teaching diploma here in the UK, and feeling like I'd finally gained enough knowledge from both sides of the globe - encompassing both the traditions of the East and the modern adaptations of the West - I then felt more able to fuse the two.

Essentially creating a kind of hybrid between practices that focus more on reaching creative and meditative states for the benefit of the mind - and teachings that focus more on the logical and practical aspects of physical wellbeing for the body - I believe I have found a uniquely effective style of teaching that doesn't require people to change who they are.

Being quite the introverted lone-ranger myself at a 'base-level', I've never really been a fan of squeezing myself into groups. Nor have I been able to. So, over time, I've simply gravitated towards accepting and embracing that.

Instead of trying to fit in with 'super spiritual and positive-vibing' groups within the yoga community, or with others who focus purely on physical image and reaching that unrealistic and unachievable thing called 'perfection', I instead practice alone when I'm not practicing with my students.

Practicing yoga alone, to me, is the ultimate. By taking the focus away from what others are doing in class within group settings, and all the potential distractions in studios themselves - I feel better able to 'switch off' and allow my nervous system to reset.

Being alone - just me and the mat in silence, exploring what it means to be alive - practicing slow, mindful movements in time with deep breathing and traversing calm, meditative states is honestly where it's at for me.

Don't get me wrong. I like people too! I love to connect authentically through yogic and self-care tips and practices - and I especially love helping people get their zest for life back.

I feel grateful when I see that look in people's eyes - that spark, that glint, that feeling of inspired action and the moment where something just clicks and those people find themselves able to stop spinning their wheels and from there on out, it's green light - go. They can suddenly flow through life again. That's what gives me my spark. And so I believe it's a two-way street. A win-win in helping each other.

Far from ultimate yogi - whatever that may mean to whichever individual - I consider myself relatively laid back and hopefully down-to-earth / realistic where it counts. However, I do also love me a bit of spontaneity and authentic self-expression, and I always encourage my students to feel free to embrace the same.

In recent years, I have been teaching more corporate yoga and in so doing, I also have the privilege of teaching informal, unpaid carers via a charity - people looking after family, friends, spouses and dependents. During that time, I have learned to adapt my teachings to suit a wide range of minds and bodies of varying age ranges and abilities, and I've loved it!

Which only spurs me on further to provide these teachings to more people who need them.

Since May 2025, I have started to expand my service offering and reach - looking to grow organically online through social media to make yoga, breathwork, and meditation more practical and accessible, so that yoga need not be unapproachable or elitist.

I look forward to working with you if what I have said rings true to you on some level, and I especially look forward to seeing you improve from the inside out over time.

Thanks in advance for your support in helping this community and platform grow.
